Mission Statement and Guiding Principles
Mission Statement:
Southern Oregon Camp Kiwanis is dedicated to providing a fun, accessible, affordable, and safe camping experience for youth and young adults with mobility impairments or physical disabilities.
Guiding Principles:
1. Benefit of Nature. We believe that all youth and young adults will benefit from an exposure to nature, camping, and outdoor experiences, without regard to their abilities or disabilities. The outdoors belongs to us all.
2. Accessibility. We believe that to the greatest extent possible, activities such as swimming, boating, nature lore, arts and crafts, hiking, horseback riding, campfires, and cookouts should be accessible to all children and youth.
3. Participation. We believe in the fundamental right of individuals with disabilities to participate fully in recreational activities with their non-disabled peers.
4. Fun. We believe in laughter, friends, fun, wonder, and song. We believe in the magic that is Camp S.O.C.K.
5. Service. We believe that by helping our fellow human beings to enjoy life more fully, we will enhance our own lives as well. We believe in one of the founding principles of Kiwanis, service to others.
