Adopt a Project - Kiwanis Club Projects

    Southern Oregon Camp Kiwanis "Adopt a Project"

The following projects can be adopted by a single Kiwanis club, or shared by a team of clubs working collaboratively.   Projects are available on a first-come first-served basis - in order to sign up for one of these projects, you must contact the Communications Director, Jeff Mueller, at jdmueller@charter.net or contact the S.O.C.K. board through email at info@campsock.org.

Clubs or individual Kiwanians are welcome to contribute items off the project lists, without adopting the entire project.  Please contact the Communications Director (above) to do so.  Items that have been crossed out below are already donated and no longer needed
.

1.  The Camp Store - adopted by Dick Mayer and Donna Kelso, Kiwanis Club of Osoyoos, British Columbia, Kiwanis Club of Tonasket, Washington, and Kiwanis Club of Vernon Four Seasons, Washington.
Sunglasses, suntan loption, insect repellent, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand cream, and other toiletries; Frisbees, bubble stuff, kites, water b ottles, hats, swimming inflatables, flashlights and batteries, songboooks, magazines, comic books, paperbacks, coloring books, candy bars, decks of cards, stationary, postcards, stamps, glow sticks, SOCK ties, stickers, buttons, disposable cameras, etc.

2.  The Waterfront - adopted by _________(this project available for adoption)__________
Lifeguard’s pole with shepherds hook; lifeguards ring or tube (flotation device); emergency air horn; whistles; lifeguards sun umbrella; inner tubes and recreational floats; 50 rubber duckies for water races; 10 - 15 life jackets (small, medium, and large sizes).

3.  Last Day Barbecue - adopted by Kiwanis Club of Coquille
Barbecue foods for campers, their families, and invited dignitaries and guests.  Plan to feed at least 100.  Final head count to be provided prior to barbecue.

4.  Softball Game - adopted by ____________(this project available for adoption)__________
Two or more bats - lightweight to medium weight; 3 softballs or "mushballs"; base markers; 3 batter’s helmets (sm, md, lg); umpires cap; 8 catcher’s mitts.

5.  Medical Infirmary - adopted by Kiwanis Club of Reedsport
2 boxes NON-LATEX gloves; assorted bandages, Band-Aids, and first aid supplies; 2 resuscitation masks; 2 "sharps" containers; assorted over-the-counter meds including asperin, ibuprofen, Pepto-Bismol, Tums, etc.; 1 portable defibrillator.

6.  Campfire Fun - adopted by Linkville Kiwanis
15 telescoping marshamallow/weiner sticks; 5 bags marshmallows; 25 Hershey bars; 3 boxes graham crackers.

7.  Safety and Prevention - adopted by_______(this project available for adoption)__________
4 sets walkie-talkie style radios; 1 intercom system (baby monitor); 2 motion detector systems with audible alarm; 2 emergency air horns; 2 portable fire extinguishers; 4 heavy duty flashlights with batteries.

8.  Music Magic - adopted by _______________(this project available for adoption)__________
Karaoke machine; CD player "boom box"; Indian drums or bongo drums; other rhythm instruments; harmonicas, flutes, or recorders; bells, guitars; other instruments; storage bins.

9.  Game Day - adopted by _______________(this project available for adoption)__________
Volleyball set; Horseshoes set; 2 - 3 jigsaw puzzles (100 piece); air pump for inflatables; etc.

10.  Public Relations and Fundraising - adopted by __(this project available for adoption)_____
Powerpoint projector; portable computer printer

11.  Staff Training and Volunteer Appreciation - adopted by (this project available for adoption)
Easel with white board and dry erase markers; 5 legal size clipboards; coffee, espresso beans and flavored syrups; coffee grinder.

12.  Volunteer Appreciation - adopted by _____(this project available for adoption)__________
An evening at the live theatre in Coquille (melodrama) (number of tickets to be arranged) 
Volunteer appreciation gifts such as gift certificates to fast food restaurants, video rentals, toiletries, snacks, cd’s, etc.  (peer counselors, age 12 to 21, are especially in need of gifts to reward their hard work)
